The Bump Shoppe is located at 45 River Street in Beacon Hill. River Street is parallel to Charles Street and the store is right behind Figs.

The Bump Shoppe is about a year old and carries a good selection of stylish, upscale maternity clothes. The clothing looks stylish and well tailored but doesn't scream maternity.

The downside is that it is expensive (most of the pants are in the $150-200 range and tops are $80-200). But the clothes are well made and look expensive. You could easily buy a couple of nice pieces and feel well dressed throughout your pregnancy.

A big draw is that owner is very helpful and, more importantly, honest. She will tell you what looks good and doesn't. If you need to get dressy clothes for work or want a nice outfit that makes you feel attractive (when often you might not feel that way!), we highly recommend treating yourself to one of the cute flowy tops or well cut pants. Like most maternity shops, all sales are final but given xxx's help, we think you'll be satisfied when you leave.

We visited in early August and almost everything in the store was 40% off including clothes that could easily be worn into the late fall. Warmer fall styles are expected to arrive soon.

Bump Shoppe has a special event one Wednesday per month where they donate 25% of sales that day to an appropriate charity. In addition, shoppers who buy an item that day get a coupon for free Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and Vlasic Pickles in a nod to the legendary pregnancy craving..
