If you want to go to the movies, but are nervous to bring your infant who is as likely to scream as to sleep throughout the movie, you may be happy to know that there are at least two "baby friendly" movie options in the Boston area.

The Capitol Theater in Arlington (204 Mass Ave) has baby friendly movies on Monday afternoons. Each week a different matinee is designated as "baby friendly". The movie is selected by a yahoo group which votes for one of the movies being shown at the theater and the results are posted on Friday. Moms, Dads, and caregivers are INVITED to bring their babies to the movies on Monday afternoons at the Capitol Theatre in Arlington (MA). The theatre is located at 204 Massachusetts Avenue. One matinee movie each Monday afternoon is designated as "baby friendly" so that parents and caregivers can get out and enjoy a movie. Nursing, bottle feeding, fussing, crying, changing diapers is never frowned upon! There is an area in the lobby to park strollers. The cost of admission is $5.00 per adult (HOLIDAYS EXCLUDED}. You can also subscribe to this group and get e-mails on Tuesdays letting you know what the choices are for the following Monday. Subscribers are asked to vote by the following Friday at noon on what they would like to see if they plan to attend. Votes are tallied and a e-mailed on FRIDAY. Results are posted sometime on Friday.

The Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline (290 Harvard Street) has baby friendly movies on alternate Fridays at 1pm. Tickets are $6.50/adult and babies under 12 months are free (although we don't think they check baby IDs at the door!). There is one movie each week designated for the Box Office Babies program. The movie for Friday, March 30 is Pan's Labyrinth and the movie for Friday, April 6 is Bamako.

Unfortunately the Boston Common Theater has discontinued its Baby Friendly movie program.
